SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police diffused an intense hotel guest who opened fire inside of a room and held a woman against her will Thursday night.
The shooting happened at the Budgetel Inn and Suites in the 2600 block of Northeast Loop 410. SAPD arrived at the hotel before 10 p.m. Thursday for calls of a man who had barricaded himself inside of a room.
A 41-year-old man was holding a woman, 21, hostage in a room on the property said SAPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Javier Salazar.
"Initially, it's believed she was here voluntarily but it became an involuntary situation, " said Salazar.
He says the victim was being held at gunpoint. The man, whose name has not been released, was reportedly making threats. Police say he opened fire.
Johnny Jones resides in the room next to the armed man. He heard the gunfire.
"He put two bullets holes out the back window then shot one through the door," says Jones.
Jones says he also heard yelling. However, after the gunfire, Jones left the room.
"He was yelling at somebody," he said. " I don't know if her was yelling at her or yelling to hear his own voice. He was pissed off about something."
SWAT and other special operations were called out by San Antonio police to diffuse the situation. It took four hours before the man surrendered. Just when officers thought the situation was over, police say the man tried to force his back into the room. He was tasered.
Investigators say, at the very least, the man could face aggravated assault charges.
