SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with the July death of her infant son.

22-year-old Aleisha Sams is facing a charge of serious bodily injury to a child by omission.

Nine-month-old Jayden Sanders died July 6 at the Rodeway Inn in the 1100 block of Austin Highway after police found him unconscious and severely injured.

The boy lived at the hotel with his mother and her boyfriend.

Apparently, she would leave her son alone with her boyfriend while she would go out and beg for money to support them.

According to Sams' arrest warrant, she told investigators that she noticed her son was injured on several occasions after leaving him alone with her boyfriend, but she never reported it.

Investigators said Sams admitted to witnessing some abuse but was too afraid to take her son to the hospital because her boyfriend threatened to kill them if she left.

Sams' boyfriend is listed as a suspect in her arrest warrant but has not been charged in her son's death.

He is currently jailed on unrelated charges.

Sams was booked into the Bexar County Jail without bond.
