SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police are investigatang a stabbing on the city's northeast side.

It happend just after midnight Wednesday in the 5200 block of Gawain near Ray Bon Drive.

Investigators said a 31-year-old man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with a slash wound to the neck.

At last check, he was in serious condition.

According to police, the man had a few people over to his home for a game of cards when an argument arose.

The man's wife, who was in another room, heard yelling and what sounded like glass breaking.

When she went to the room, she found her husband bleeding from the neck with the slash wound, according to investigators.

Detectives on scene said tthe weapon used was a broken beer bottle.

The men who had been playing cards left the home before police arrived.

Investigators said the wife did not see what happened and only knew the men by first name.

No arrests were made.
