After a pregnant woman was shot in the stomach San Antonio police are asking for the public's help finding her attacker.

Police say the 22-year-old mother-to-be is eight months pregnant. They say she was shot as she was trying to get away from someone attempting to steal her purse.

The shooting took place on August 5 when Amber Espinoza was walking to her residence in the Riverstone Apartments complex in the 8700 block of Cinnamon Creek.

Authorities say a man came up to Espinoza and tried to grab her purse.

Espinoza took off and that's when the man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her.

The shooter fled the scene.

Espinoza was taken to a hospital for treatment. Luckily, both Espinoza and her baby will survive the attack.

The suspect is described as a black male between 16 to 20 years old, about six feet tall, weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing black shorts and a blue t-shirt, police say.

Crime Stoppers is asking for your help solving this case. Call 210-224-STOP if you have information about this investigation.
