ARLINGTON — A driver struck a home and then fled the scene on foot early Friday morning in Arlington.
The homeowner said she was outside with her dog when she saw the vehicle slam into the bedroom where her children were sleeping.
"I didn't know if they were dead or alive," the mother said.
The crash left a large gaping hole. However, the children were unharmed.
The mother said her twins and 8-year-old son were sleeping in the room.
"When I saw them that broke me," she said of her relief. "... Seeing the bricks, the window, the blinds, the whole room was totally destroyed. I'm just thankful I still have my family."
Police are searching for the driver, who fled on foot.
The homeowner said police told her containers of alcohol were inside the vehicle.
"Whoever he is he needs to turn himself in," she said.
