AUSTIN -- Travis County medical examiners have identified the body found in Lady Bird Lake Monday morning as missing St. Edward's University student Eleno Efren Valle.

Just before 8:45 a.m. a man called 911 to report a body floating in the water near the trail at Lavaca and Cesar Chavez.

Recovery efforts began by the Austin Police Department and Austin Fire Department. An officer from the St. Edward's University Police Department was also at the scene. Valle's body was recovered around 10 a.m.

Valle, 20, was first reported missing by his family on Feb. 7. They said he was last seen at his dormitory, Casa Residence Hall, when he told his roommate that he was going out for a walk.

A spokesperson for St. Edward's University released the following statement via email:

"The past 10 days while Eleno was missing have been a period of anxious waiting for the university community. We are saddened by the news of Eleno’s death and our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends."

At this point foul play is not suspected in Valle's death.
