Police ID man who drowned in White Rock Lake after bridge jump

DALLAS -- Police have identified the man who jumped off a bridge into White Rock Lake and never resurfaced.

Jeremy Daugherty, 24, is said to have jumped off a pesestrian bridge that crosses the river, south of Mockingbird Lane, with another man on Tuesday. 

The man told police that Daugherty had problems swimming and he tried to help him, but fatigue got in the way. 

After an extensive search, Daugherty's body was found around noon on Wednesday.

His grandmother Jane Choate told News 8 that her grandson couldn't swim and beieves the men were "goofing around."

Firefighters said the water where the men jumped in is about eight feet deep.
