LUBBOCK -- The body of a Crosbyton toddler was found Thursday evening in the basement of her caregiver, according to police.
Leah Marie Aguirre was found wrapped in a blanket, according to KAMC-TV in Lubbock.
Caretaker Matilda Alvarez was arrested and charged with capital murder. Police say their investigation continues and there may be other arrests.
A statewide Amber Alert was issued for 2-year-old Leah on Tuesday. The child disappeared on January 3.
The caregiver reportedly told police a man named Miguel," who claimed to be a case worker from Child Protective Serivces, took the child, according to KAMC-TV.
The child's family was reportedly being investigated by CPS and they were expecting caseworkers to pick her up.
An autopsy will be performed to determine Leah's cause of death.
