SAN ANTONIO -- A pawn store employee used her friends' identities to carry out an elaborate scheme to steal thousands of dollars from her employer, according to allegation in an arrest warrant.

Betty Ann Martinez has confessed to the crime, the warrant states. She was arrested Monday and is charged with theft $20,000-$100,000.

Castle Hill police said an internal audit at EZ Pawn in the 7100 Blanco Road revealed bogus loans for jewelry.

Investigators said the 30-year-old confessed to stealing from the store's safe to cover up the loans.

Martinez falsified 13 loans, according to the warrant.
