FORT WORTH — Authorities said a 19-year-old male suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning while attempting to cross Northwest Loop 820 with his sister and her friend.

The victim was identified as  William Brawley, a high school senior at Brewer High School in White Settlement.

According to Sharron Neal,  a spokeswoman with the Fort Worth Police Department, Brawley was struck at about 6:30 a.m. on southbound Loop 820 at Las Vegas Trail.

Herald Black, the father of the driver who struck the young male, said the teens attempted to cross the road after their vehicle ran out of gas on the service road.

"One guy swerved to try and miss them," he said. "When he missed them, [the victim] ran into my son's car."

Black said his son called 911 and stayed at the scene with Brawley.

MedStar reported a teenage male was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Neal later reported the victim was pronounced dead.

No one else was seriously injured in the accident.
