AUSTIN, Texas -- There are now 28 reports of K2 overdoses in the downtown Austin area since the string of overdoses began on Wednesday afternoon.

The latest case occurred around 6 p.m. Sunday.

In another case, a 46-year-old man was charged with criminal mischief on Wednesday when he broke out of restraints and began hitting an EMS laptop against the inside window of the ambulance.

Austin-Travis County EMS officials tell KVUE one of the patients today was a pregnant woman in her third trimester. Someone called saying she was having a seizure, and paramedics believe it may be connected to K2 since they confirmed she took it for a symptom of pregnancy.

Austin police have increased patrols trying to figure out where the synthetic marijuana is coming from.

As it gets hotter, EMS advises that taking K2 can create a lethal combination because it already raises body temperature.

KVUE's sister station WFAA reports more than 30 people were hospitalized Friday in Dallas from K2 overdoses.
