ROCKWALL, Texas -- Police in the Dallas suburb of Rockwall are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl as a homicide after she was found dead in her home with stab wounds after staying home sick from school.
Rockwall Sgt. Jeff Welch said Wednesday that the girl was last seen alive early Tuesday morning when her mother allowed her to stay home from school because she didn’t feel well. When the mother, who had gone to work that day, checked on her daughter around 7 p.m. she found the girl unresponsive on her bedroom floor.
Welch says police believe the girl, who had stab wounds on her upper torso, died from a "violent altercation." An autopsy was underway Wednesday.
Welch says there were no signs of a break-in. Police currently have no suspects.
