SAN ANTONIO –- Six Flags says the new Iron Rattler roller coaster features the world’s tallest and steepest drop, the fastest speed, and a first-of-its-kind looping zero-g barrel roll on a wooden hybrid coaster.
Season pass holders get to ride the Fiesta Texas coaster first on May 18 and 19, and it opens to the general public on May 25. On Wednesday, however, the park was giving the media a first look at the new coaster.
From a press release: “The extreme, ultra-smooth coaster plummets guests down an 81 degree drop from a height of 180-feet, roars 70 miles per hour, snakes through four wild overbanked turns and then flips riders upside down on the first-ever zero-g barrel roll on a wooden hybrid coaster.”
"We're so excited to finally unveil this innovative hybrid coaster that also offers an amazingly smooth ride. This cutting-edge coaster proudly complements our existing ride package, all while featuring thrills not found anywhere else," said park president Martin Bozer.
The original wooden Rattler coaster was taken down in 2012 with the new one going up in its place at the same location.
