FORT WORTH — Neighbors held a vigil Sunday for a three-year-old boy who fell into a pool.
The accident happened Saturday evening at the La Jolla on Meadowbrook apartment complex in far east Fort Worth.
The child's mother told a Medstar dispatcher she was in the bathroom with another child at the time. She was gone just two minutes.
The boy was unconscious and not breathing when he was rescued from the pool.
"If I was there, I would have jumped straight in," said neighbor Rashad Perry who had been present just minutes before the tagedy. "I kind of wish I did stay longer."
The boy was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center. His condition was not available Sunday night.
A Medstar spokesperson said the ambulance service is concerned about the increase in water-related accidents this summer.
