Arlington police say the mother of an 19-month-old girl who was brutally beaten and then buried has now been arrested in connection with the crime on July 4.

Alexis Botello, 17, faces charges including tampering with and/or fabricating physical evidence involving a human corpse and injury to a child. She was arrested without incident in her home town of Weatherford.

Bond for the two charges was set at $125,000.

According to police records, 20-year-old Joshua Beard struck and stomped on his girlfriend's toddler, Tylea Moore. Investigators said Beard and Botello then traveled to Parker County to bury Tylea, wrapped in a blanket, under a rural bridge near Springtown.

Beard is being held on a capital murder charge. Police said Botello had initially attempted to file a "lost child" report concerning Tylea's disappearance.

The child's biological father, Chris Moore, told news 8 that Botello was in an abusive relationship and feared for her own life.
