FORT WORTH — A mother and her 6-year-old daughter were killed in a house fire early Friday morning in Fort Worth.
A man, woman and the girl's twin sister were both able to escape. All three were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of Market Ave. Flames spread to a neighboring home.
According to a statement from Timothy Hardeman, a spokesman with the Fort Worth Fire Department, firefighters were told the mother and her two twin daughters were staying at the home with the man and woman who were able to escape the blaze.
Firefighters reported both homes involved in the fire were extensively damaged. There were no reports of any other injuries or deaths.
Red Cross was at the scene assisting five people displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
