SAN ANTONIO -- A man was hit by a train and killed while he was walking on tracks on the northeast side, said San Antonio police.
At approximately 7:30 Sunday night said a man in his mid 40s was walking where tracks cross a creek at I-35 near Eisenhower and Rittiman Road, and apparently didn’t see the train heading north.
Union Pacific said the train engineer and conductor saw the man and sounded the horn, but were unable to stop the train in time to prevent the accident.
A statement from the police department said when the man realized a train was quickly approaching, the man had nowhere to go and was hit.
The victim was dragged along by the train until it came to a stop at I-35 and Walzem.
Police have yet to identify the man, who was killed in the accident.
