DALLAS -- Police are investigating a deadly stabbing that happened inside a home in Highland Park early Wednesday.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m., police received a 911 call from the home at the corner of Cornell and Abbott avenues, police said. The home is just three blocks south of Southern Methodist University.
Inside the home, officers found a woman who had been stabbed in the hands and arms, according to police. A man, identified as 50-year-old John Steele, was stabbed in the chest.
Steele was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The woman is listed in stable condition at the hospital.
Police said there were several people inside the home at the time of the stabbings. Officers are interviewing those witnesses about what happened.
Police are not calling it a home invasion, but officers said they are not ready to say it was a domestic dispute.
