KYLE, Texas -- Kyle Police say a man shot a gun at firefighters who were battling a fire.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, Kyle firefighters went to 390 Buggy Whip Drive in the Sunset Ridge Trailer Park to find a storage shed on fire. After they extinguished the fire, firefighters reported hearing shots fired and hearing a bullet hit the wall near them.

Kyle police responded to investigate and found the shot came from a nearby home. Officers found a man asleep in the home with a rifle by his side. When they woke him, they say he was combative and refused to give them the gun. Officers tazed him and took him into custody.

They arrested Jason Montalvo, 18, for assault on a public servant as well as an outstanding warrant for possession of marijuana.
