A teacher has resigned her position with the Judson Independent School District in the wake of a conflict with a student, the district said Friday.
The teacher, who taught fifth grade at Park Village Elementary School, had earlier been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
"Several students were getting loud and unruly. This female teacher was trying to settle them down by talking to them," said Steve Linscomb, Judson ISD spokesman. "It turned into a physical altercation with the teacher laying hands on the fifth-grade female student."
"No one was seriously injured, just minor scratches. But the student was very upset," he said.
A district news release stated: "The teacher’s actions did not align with the district’s expectations of student safety."
