GATESVILLE, Texas -- Authorities say a Central Texas man suspected of shooting a woman killed himself after his vehicle was stopped by police.
Coryell County Sheriff Johnny Burks says 37-year-old Franklin Wayne Ingram shot himself with a 12-gauge shotgun on Wednesday in Gatesville. After being stopped by a sheriff's investigator, the man got out of his vehicle carrying a shotgun. Burks says after the investigator ordered the suspect to drop his weapon several times, the man shot himself.
Burks says authorities were looking out for Ingram after a 37-year-old woman called the sheriff's office Wednesday morning to report being shot in her home in a small community just west of Gatesville. When deputies arrived, she told them Ingram had shot her.
