SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio teacher investigated for having a sexual relationship with a student later married her, the Bexar County Clerk's Office confirmed.

County records indicate they wed on July 13, 2013.

SAISD police investigated their relationship into the fall of 2012, months after Nichols resigned and De La Fuentes had graduated.

District officials said the department did not find enough proof to file charges against Nichols.

A trespass warning recently issued by the San Antonio Independent School District to a former teacher reveals the investigation into his possible misconduct continued long after he resigned.

Tyler Nichols, 39, resigned from Sam Houston High School in June 2012 but was recently spotted at Brackenridge High School on at least two occasions.

The district stressed Nichols did not come into contact with students during these visits.

However, SAISD has now banned Nichols from all SAISD campuses.

"It's not someone that we want to have being part of or working with our school district," said SAISD spokeswoman Leslie Price.

Nichols was placed on administrative leave in May 2012 after allegations he took several students on an impromptu trip to Chicago.

Nichols and the students had been in St. Louis for a robotics competition, but were told they could not participate because they had failed to register properly.

Soon after Nichols was placed on leave, allegations were made in emails to the district that Nichols was also involved in a sexual relationship with one of those students.

The district had investigated similar allegations in late December 2011, but could not substantiate them.

Nichols and the student, now identified as 20-year-old Alison De La Fuentes, denied the relationship was inappropriate.

State records indicate Nichols voluntarily surrendered his teaching certificate in April 2013, weeks after the Texas Education Agency informed him he was under investigation.

An SAISD spokeswoman said the TEA was given information about the unauthorized trip, as well as possible evidence of an inappropriate relationship between Nichols and De La Fuentes.

The I-Team was unable to track down the couple.
