DALLAS -- One person was killed when a dump truck jumped over a median on LBJ Freeway (I-635) at Webb Chapel Road Tuesday morning and pinned two other vehicles under it.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans confirmed one fatality and said one other person was extricated from their vehicle and transported to a local hospital, but that person did not have life-threatening injuries.

Cars were trapped under both the front and sack sides as the truck sat on top of the barrier between the eastbound and westbound lanes.

It is unclear how the incident occurred.

The Plano Hazardous Materials team responded to help clean a "significant amount of disel fuel" that spilled from the truck, Evans said.

Both sides of I-635 are shut down and traffic is backed up for miles. Seek an alternate route. Head to this link for traffic updates.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.
