Deputies: Man throws knife at girlfriend for waking him up

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas -- A 27-year-old man is accused of throwing a knife at his girlfriend's head after she woke him from the couch.

According to an arrest affidavit, 27-year-old John Maynard was sleeping on a couch at his girlfriend's brother's house on Sunday, which was St. Patrick's Day.

He was allegedly roused from his sleep and threw a knife at his girlfriend, which became stuck in her head.

Investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Maynard apologized and ran out of the home after he saw the knife sticking in his girlfriend's head.

The woman was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with the knife still lodged in her head. Luckily, The knife did not penetrate the woman's skull, according to the arrest affidavit.

Maynard already had a warrant out for his arrest out of Medina County for failure to appear for assault causing bodily injury.

He was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
