DALLAS — A 46-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night following a shooting that left a 7-year-old boy in critical condition.
Police charged Brian Cloninger with injury to a child.
The child was hospitalized Tuesday night after suffering a gunshot wound to the face at a Northeast Dallas apartment complex.
Justin Yancy said he saw the 7-year-old victim playing "tag" with his friends at the Fox Hollow apartments at 9450 Royal Lane.
"The next thing I know, I heard a loud 'bang,' and he ran around the corner with a mouth full of blood," Yancy said.
The child was shot in the jaw.
Investigating officers were led to a nearby vehicle, where Clolinger was taken into custody.
In a statement released Wednesday morning, Dallas police said the child is listed in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Cloninger was booked into Lew Sterret Jail on a $2.2-million bond.
Authorities did not reveal a motive behind the shooting.
