The Dallas detective who failed to investigate more than 600 domestic abuse cases in 2009 while earning more than $15,000 in overtime was fired Tuesday.
News 8 first reported on an internal audit obtained by The Dallas Morning News on Monday night, which detailed Det. Shawn Wash's professional inaction. He was moved out of the domestic violence unit more than a year ago but never disciplined beyond that.
Wash would not answer questions about the findings on Tuesday.
Det. Durman Johnson failed to investigate more than 100 cases, and he was also fired on Tuesday.
Chief David Brown fired two additional officers for other reasons on Tuesday.
