AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Activists on both sides of the abortion debate are at the Texas Capitol again as lawmakers debate a contentious bill that would create new restrictions.

Several hundred anti-abortion protesters wearing blue gathered Monday night to support the bill. Some held signs saying, “Unborn babies feel pain” and “Abortion kills children.” They were expected to hear later from Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, spots of orange-clad activists supporting abortion rights were gathering for a march against the bill.

The bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks and impose restrictions that advocates say would lead to the closure of most Texas abortion providers.

A senator’s 12-hour filibuster and the shouts of raucous protesters ran out the clock on a vote in the last special session.
