SAN ANTONIO -- The famous Budweiser Clydesdales have stopped in Alamo City as part of their military tour.
They arrived at San Antonio Military Medical Center to visit with wounded warriors and their families on Wednesday.
The Budweiser Clydesdales made their first appearance in 1933 delivering the first cases of beer after prohibition.
Today, they offered rides around SAMMC to wounded soldiers that spend most of their days in therapy.
Cody Coopenberg was injured in an explosion in Afghanistan. He spent the first couple months at SAMMC unconscious.
“I’m getting back to my old life. Everything’s good," he said. "My wife was down here with me for a while but she had to go back and take care of our boy.”
Soldiers said spending the day with the clydesdales broke up the monotony of their daily recovery routine.
