GALVESTON, Texas -- Authorities searching the shoreline Sunday morning found the body of a possible drowning victim who entered the Gulf on Friday near the treacherous currents of the San Luis Pass.
About 7:15 a.m. Sunday, a beach jogger and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew discovered the body believed to be Marke Williams, 21, of the Clear Lake area, said Galveston Island Beach Patrol Chief Peter Davis. The body was along the beach shoreline about a mile east of the pass, he said.
Although the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death and identify the body, Davis said the man’s description, bathing suit, tattoos and jewelry all were a match for Williams.
