GEORGETOWN, Texas -- A man charged with capital murder for fatally beating a toddler is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
Andrew Ray Jiminez, 22, is accused of punching his girlfriend's two-year-old to death. He will be in court for a pre-indictment hearing.
The incident happened three weeks ago inside an apartment complex in Georgetown. Investigators say Jiminez first lied to them, claiming the child fell down the stairs. He later confessed he was tired and sick of hearing the boy cry so he punched him in the stomach until he stopped moving.
When police came to arrest Jiminez, they say the child's mother defended him. Officers arrested her for interfering.
Police say they have responded to the home many times for domestic violence calls.
