AUSTIN -- The Austin Zoo was burglarized overnight, according to the zoo's director.
Austin Zoo Director Patti Clark says burglars ransacked the zoo's administrative offices and gift shop and stole security cameras, radios, charging stations, a computer and dart guns. Clark said the burglars also demolished furniture, pried open filing cabinets and took the zoo's ATM and safe.
Clark said the Austin Zoo has a fence around the property and it looks like the burglars pried the door open, but no windows were broken.
Clark said two staff members were on the grounds, but they were sleeping at the time of the burglary.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
