HAYES COUNTY, Texas—A Hayes County woman could face jail time after police say she charged into her investment firm armed with a gun on Dec. 11.

Christine Cayton said she simply wanted her money back and blamed the company for driving her to the point of a breakdown.

She bonded out of jail two days ago.

"I don’t want people to think I’m some crazy lunatic woman. You know?" said Cayton. "I was robbed, literally, robbed. "

Cayton said she’s been trying to get back the $125,000 in retirement savings she put into Triton Financial Services for months.

"How could they justify not giving a person their money back? I just don’t understand," she said.

After letters, phone calls, tears and only $25,000 of her money returned, Cayton said she got desperate.

Intoxicated on wine an prescription drugs, Cayton said she made a big mistake.

"I let them get to me so much that I would break down and make a complete idiot out of myself, driving around with a t-shirt, flip flops and a robe with a bottle of wine and a gun from a yard sale," she said. "I thought he would be so scared that he would give me, cause I had my wiring instructions to my IRA account, that he would wire the money right away."

But, when Cayton put down the gun to get the ammunition out of her purse, the CEO of the company grabbed her and escorted her to the front of the building, where police were waiting.

"What’s going to happen to all of us, if we go down because of the decisions that I have made, stupid decisions?" she asked.

Cayton is charged with a second-degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The CEO of Triton Financial issued this statement:

"Triton Financial and its employees were the victims of a very serious and frightening event. Hopefully, the aggressor will receive the proper treatment and counseling necessary to prevent this from happening again.

We would like to take this opportunity to assure our clients that we will continue to provide the same great level of service that they received prior to this unfortunate event."
