An Alamo Heights man arrested Wednesday is accused of causing a brain and head injury to his child.    Investigators allege Ryan Becton Schwope slapped his 2-month-old child causing the injury.

The alleged incident happened in November 2013.

According to an arrest warrant, a nanny noticed something appeared to be wrong with the child after the baby's father had cared for the child for the first time.

Police said Schwope admitted to slapping the child after it burped too hard.

In addition to the brain injury, the infant suffered retinal bleeding, according to police.

Schwope posted bond and will face child injury charges, police said.
