PLUGERVILLE -- A science teacher accused of using racial slurs in the classroom has resigned, Plugerville Independent School District says.

Students said that 57-year-old Mark Stamp allegedly used the racial slurs directed at minority students. PISD placed Stamp on administrative leave, and the district began an investigation.

Stamp resigned prior to the completion of the investigation. Stamp was at PISD for one year. He previously worked in the Round Rock school district.

According to the Texas Education Agency's official record of certification, Stamp has been an educator since 1990, and he is certified in secondary science for grades 6-12.

The district says this is the first complaint about the teacher that the district has received.
