SAN ANTONIO -- The Southwest Independent School District has set up a benefit account for April Solis, the 6-year-old San Antonio girl who was killed by an ice cream truck the day after Christmas.

The account was made at Woodforest National Bank. All donations received will be used to help pay for the young girl's funeral services, according to SWISD.

Solis was a kindergartner at Indian Creek Elementary School. She lived just a few blocks away, on Prairie Flower Drive, where the fatal accident occurred.

Police said Solis was playing with a 10-year-old friend when the victim jumped onto the back of a ice cream truck, slipped and fell under the vehicle as it was backing up. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

An officer with the San Antonio Police Department told KENS 5 the girl's death appeared to be 'a pure accident' and that no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
