SAPD: Man set on fire during apparent fight on city's south side

SAN ANTONIO -- A man was set on fire on the city's south side early Friday morning. According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, the incident began as a fight in a home near Applewhite Road and Mauermann road around 6 a.m. Police said the victim's wife drove her husband to a gas station in the 12500 block of SW Loop 410 for help. The burn victim was then transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in serious condition with burns over 90 percent of his body, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. According to police, the suspect crashed his vehicle while trying to flee the initial scene. Chief McManus said the suspect called family and friends for help and was arrested by police. The suspect also sustained injuries.
