DALLAS -- There were new clues Sunday that Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz could be setting his political sights higher than the seat he won in Congress last fall.
Cruz appeared on ABC's "This Week" to contest claims that he can't legally run for president.
Cruz was born in Canada, but said that since his mother is a U.S. citizen, he is also a U.S. citizen by birth.
Cruz also wasted no time going after President Obama.
"I think the policies he was advancing were wrong and dangerous," the freshman senator said. "I admire and respect him in that he fights for his principles, but I think his principles are profoundly dangerous."
Cruz was in Iowa last week and will headline a fundraiser in New Hampshire next month. Both are early presidential voting states, fueling speculation that he is considering a presidential run.
