MANSFIELD, Texas - Tarrant County authorities said the estranged wife of an Irving officer is suspected in a shooting that left him injured at about 9 p.m. Tuesday at a Mansfield area home.

Officer Brandon Spencer was off duty when he was shot at a home off Retta Mansfield Rd. According to a sergeant with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, the injuries appeared not to be life threatening.

The crime may be linked to another scene in Johnson County where a woman's body was found inside a four-door sedan, said Terry Grisham, a spokesman with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said they believe the deceased female is the injured officer's wife.

Spencer has worked with Irving Police Department for 18 years and was currently assigned to the Investigative Services bureau, said John Argumaniz, a spokesman for the Irving Police Department.
