Fireworks warehouse in Bastrop catches fire

BASTROP, Texas -- Nine fire departments in Bastrop County are responding to a fire at a fireworks warehouse in West Bastrop.

Bastrop County Sheriff's officials say just before 11 this morning, the American Fireworks warehouse at Highway 71 and Highway 21 caught fire with employees nearby. Employees were able to get away safely.

No injuries are reported at this time. No one was inside the warehouse when the fire started.

The fire is reportedly still active. Bastrop County Sheriff's officials say fireworks were going off at the warehouse, but are believed to have stopped. Initial reports of an explosion occurring are not confirmed.

Nine fire departments from Bastrop County are attempting to put out the fire with Travis County Fire officials there for mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
