TERRELL, Texas — The search for an escaped prisoner shifted to an area southwest of Wichita Falls on Saturday morning.
According to other inmates, Michael Rimmer, 33, fled from a private prison transport van after it stopped for fuel between Seymour and Olney, southwest of Wichita Falls.
Kaufman County deputies, state troopers and Kaufman police joined in the search for Rimmer, who was being returned to Florida on drug charges, after it was initially thought that he had escaped at a convenience store near Terrell.
Rimmer was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, a gray T-shirt, multicolored shoes, a restraint belt and leg shackles. He is a white male 5'-10" tall, 150 lbs. with blue eyes and brown hair.
His criminal history includes assault, burglary, theft and possession of narcotics.
