BEDFORD, Texas -- An estranged boyfriend was arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman and an 8-year-old boy found dead in a Bedford apartment Wednesday night, police said.
A 12-year-old boy also found with stab wounds at the scene was transported to a nearby hospital.
The victims were discovered in a unit of the complex in the 1400 block of Park Place Blvd. at about 8:40 p.m. as officers responded to a 911 call.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrested Cedric Ricks, 38, in connection with the crime. The suspect was pulled over on Interstate 35 near Wynnewood, Okla., about 70 miles north of the Red River.
Police issued an alert to authorities in surrounding states to be on the lookout for the woman's car, which police said Ricks stole. A state trooper spotted the vehicle and arrested Ricks without incident.
Investigators said Ricks was the woman's estranged boyfriend. The couple had one child together, an 8-month-old boy. He was found unharmed at the apartment Wednesday night.
Ricks is at the Garvin County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition back to Texas. He is being held on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
