FORT WORTH — One person is dead and a puppy is missing after a pickup truck crashed near Spinks Airport in far south Fort Worth early Saturday morning.

Police spokeswoman Officer Sharron Neal said the vehicle was traveling in the 400 block of East Rendon Crowley Road around 2:25 a.m. when — according to the driver — the passenger tossed the puppy into his lap, fearing it was about to become sick.

The driver, 36-year-old Ronald Jolly of Crowley, said he lost control of the truck and it rolled over, crushing his passenger. His name was not released.

The dog is thought to have escaped to a nearby field; it has not been located. No description was given.

Officer Neal said Jolly was arrested and is being investigated for intoxication manslaughter after admitting he had been drinking beers at a bar.
