DALLAS -- About 200 followers of comedian Ellen DeGeneres gathered at a Dallas car dealership hoping to get on her TV show and to win a new car after getting a series of tweets.

A Twitter account for DeGeneres’ daytime talk show sent out the tweets promoting a Tuesday giveaway in Dallas.

A message urged followers to go to the dealership, put their name on a dollar bill and give it to Jeannie Klisiewicz, the receptionist at DeGeneres’ show. Klisiewicz also handed out $1 raffle tickets with proceeds going to DeGeneres’ charity for breast cancer research.

Prize raffles started around 6 p.m. Tuesday during a live taping of the show, which will be broadcast Wednesday.

Twelve people were selected by way of raffle tickets to make their most creative Halloween costume and five of them would be chosen for a chance to win a 2010 GMC.
