SAN ANTONIO -- Four people are dead after their car was struck by a driver who was fleeing from police on Sunday afternoon.
The names of the deceased were not immediately available, although police said there were two children and two adults killed in the crash.
A third child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The suspect was first seen sitting inside his car just blocks away from the site of the accident at Culebra Road and Alicia Avenue.
San Antonio police said the suspect was arguing with another man and flashed his handgun around 6 p.m.
A police officer, who was on regular patrol, saw the gun and parked his cruiser between two vehicles.
The suspect then rammed the officer's cruiser, police said, before speeding away and sideswiping the victims as they were driving through the intersection.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody following the accident.
During an interview, police said they were looking into to the possibility of the suspect being drunk.
