FORT WORTH - A twin engine Cesna crashed near Fort Worth's Spinks Airport at 9:51 a.m. Wednesday, injuring two people inside, emergency officials said.
Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Tim Hardeman said the victims were being treated for burns. During a press conference, Hardeman added that the two were able to escape the flaming wreckage on their own. He did not know their condition.
Two CareFlite helicopters were called to the scene to take the injured to Parkland Memorial Hospital's burn unit, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said.
As crews treated the injured passengers, fire fighters worked to put out a brush fire sparked by the crash.
The plane crashed in a field near the airport, which is located along Interstate 35 near the Fort Worth and Burleson border.
