SAN ANTONIO -- A cheer-leading team in San Antonio for a weekend competition had all their costumes, sets and props stolen.

The Sterling Stars dance team had their U-Haul van containing $10,000 worth of equipment stolen from their hotel parking lot in the 9500 block of Amelia.

The Baytown high schoolers still performed in the competition and ended up sweeping the awards while learning an important life lesson along the way.

"I think the lesson is you can work with what you've got, and we did," said dance team leader Clayton Baker." I feel like we pushed through, and we did what we needed to do in order to get the job done."

According to the school district, the team's trailer was found with some of the large items still inside. But the team's dance uniforms and other props were not recovered.
