IRVING, Texas — An infant who was found "unresponsive" at an Irving child care center Monday afternoon was later pronounced dead.
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play in the death of the four-month-old boy at Kay's Little Angels in the 1400 block of West Shady Grove Road.
"The child had been put down for a nap approximately an hour before we received a phone call," said Irving police spokesman John Argumaniz. "One of the staff was checking on the children, and checked this child and saw that the child was not breathing. At that point, the staff started life-saving techniques and then also called 911."
The infant had been alone in a crib, but not alone in a room. It was not clear how many children were in the licensed day care center at the time of the incident.
The name of the victim was not released, and the cause of death is unknown.
