DALLAS –– Dallas police have arrested and charged a suspect in a double murder from 2011.
On April 3, 2011, police found the bodies of Ana Aguilar and Manuel Yanez inside a minivan parked at an industrial park in the 8400 block of Eastpoint Drive. Detectives swabbed for fingerprints at the crime scene and the case went cold.
According to an arrest affidavit, on Tuesday a detective got a lead that Marcus Lacey was involved in the crime. Lacey went to Jack Evans Police Headquarters voluntarily and consented to give his fingerprints and a DNA sample to investigators.
Forensics matched his fingerprint to what was found in the van, the document said. While police have not detailed the motive, a News 8 story from 2011 reported methamphetamine was found in the van with the bodies.
Lacey, 21, is being held without bond on a charge of capital murder. He also had previous warrants out of Garland for driving with a suspended license and driving without proof of insurance.
