SAN ANTONIO - A 25-year-old mother was gunned down Monday night in front of her three young children.

San Antonio police said her boyfriend, 21-year-old Jonathan Garcia, pulled the trigger.

The family of Tammy Ramirez said they suspect an abusive relationship, but added Ramirez never led on to just how bad it had become.

Ramirez’s brother, Joseph Montez, said the family came across one of Ramirez’s journals on Tuesday.

“It’s heart-breaking to even read all the stuff that was going on,” he said. “What sticks in my mind is she wrote, ‘I’m only 25 years old. I don’t want to die young.'”

Garcia was charged with murder.  A judge set his bond at $250,000.

Family Violence Prevention Services said leaving an abusive relationship can be a dangerous decision.  It recommends telling someone first and making a plan.
