ARLINGTON, Texas -- A man was shot and killed outside of an apartment Thursday afternoon while visiting his ex-girlfriend and their two children, investigators said.
Arlington Police Department spokesman Christopher Cook said officers responded to the scene near Lamar Blvd. and found one man who was shot several times. Cook said the incident began as a "verbal dispute" between him and another man inside the apartment.
Cook said the suspect is believed to be in a relationship with the victim's ex-girlfriend whom he was visiting. After the argument, the man pulled a gun and shot the victim outside the residence.
The suspect fled in a vehicle before officers arrived.
"Detectives are working diligently to fully identify the suspect and vehicle and get him into custody," Cook wrote in a release.
Nobody has been identified. An official cause of death is pending an autopsy.
